Obituary

Ignacio Flores Munar, 85 of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, passed away on April 11, 2020. He was surrounded by his family.

Ignacio (Asyong) was born in San Fernando, La Union Philippines on July 28, 1934. He earned a degree in practical electricity at the Philippine School of Arts and Trades in Manila, Philippines. Ignacio was married to Concordia on May 1, 1963; they were married 56 years.

Ignacio worked as a quality control officer at Philips Electronics in Manila, Philippines. Ignacio later worked as an electrician at 3M after he and his family immigrated to the US in the 1970’s.

Ignacio & Concordia along with their friends Drony & Alicia Castillo, Roland & Rosalinda Castillo, Alicia Hernandez, Wells & Nonette Jimenez, Carmelita Jimenez, Sonny & Connie Laqui, and Mario & Flor Parayno formed Familia Ter Admirabilis to become one of the first Schoenstatt Families in Minnesota.

In his free time, Ignacio enjoyed woodworking and gardening. One of his favorite crops was upo, which he grew as tall as his kids.

Ignacio is survived by his wife Concordia; grandchildren Marissa, Brittany, Mitchell, Brandon, Anthony, Samuel, Jaiden and Jared; children Maria & Romy, Nosh & Jeanette, Iverio & Ramona, Isagani, Ismael, Ian, and Irving. He is also beloved by many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ignacio is preceded in death by his parents Leon Munar & Severina Flores Munar; siblings Irene, Arsenia, Eulougio, Monico, Patricio, Emilio and Eusevio; and grandson Christian.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic a private funeral service will be held 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 at the Church of St. Peter in North Saint Paul, Minnesota. You may click to join Facebook live stream on this Facebook page
