Obituary

STELLA MAE HENSLEY STRANDWOLD
FEBRUARY 25, 1914 --------MARCH 28, 2020

How do you put 106 years of living into a couple of paragraphs? There were a number of hard, challenging, and beautiful years in that dash between 1914 and 2020. She was born in Arkansas and moved to Oklahoma until 1937. Then she moved to Prosser Washington where she met and married the love of her life, George Strandwold. In 1939 they married and made there home for many years on Buena Vista Rd. George worked for Benton County Road Dept. Stella raised baby calves, a huge garden and milked cows on their farm.
They had no children of their own but helped to raise many nieces and nephews. They were “Uncle George and Aunt Stella” to so many. They always had kids and family at their home.
Together they were longtime residents of Prosser helping it to grow. Stella literally made thousands of pies for the Grange to help raise money for the new hospital (PMH) and bank (ONB).
She loved cooking for her family and friends and always had “a piece of pie and cuppa coffee” for all who stopped by. She also loved playing rummy, embroidering, going to rodeos, traveling and, most of all, any chance to get together with friends and family.
She was born February 25, 1914 to Bill and Mary (Ross) Hensley. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband George, brothers Jess and Otis and her sisters, Ella and Wanda Jean. She is survived by her baby brother Dennis, 93, of Walla Walla Washington and many nieces and nephews.
She went peacefully in her sleep to be with her Lord on March 28, 2020 at the sweet age of 106. She was a resident at Toppenish Rehab and Nursing Home where they gave her excellent loving care. A memorial will be held at a later date.
Stella, you were so loved and will be so missed! God finally finished that very special mansion he was building just for you! Welcome Home Stella
