Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Helen M. (LaValley) Carabine, 98, of the Hungry Hill section of Springfield, tragically passed away on Good Friday, April 10, 2020 from the COVID-19 virus. She passed into Eternal Life at Heritage Hall West in Agawam surrounded by all the memories that she loved and cherished. She was born in Scottstown, Province of Quebec, Canada on August 13, 1921, a beloved daughter of the late Jules J. and Evangeline (Wood) LaValley. In 1926, she and her family came to Springfield where she lived the remainder of her life. She graduated from Springfield Trade High School in 1939. She was an assembler at the Wico Electric Company in West Springfield and retired in 1982. She was a member of the Springfield Golden Age Club and enjoyed her time with her many friends at the Mary Troy Hungry Hill Senior Center. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who showered her family with her love and affection which was returned to her a thousand fold. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John T. Carabine who was Called Home on November 29, 1975. They were married at Sacred Heart Church in Springfield on June 15, 1946 and were blessed with over 29 years of happiness together. She leaves her five loving children, Diane F. Moran of Aiken, SC, Suzanne M. Hutchinson and her husband, Douglas, of Ponder, TX, William T. Carabine and his wife, Lillia, of Bluffton, SC, Rosemary C. Rousseau and her husband, Richard “Skip” Rousseau, of West Springfield, and Maureen M. Carabine of Springfield; her nine cherished grandchildren, Tina Carroll and her husband, Todd, Kelly Moran, Cathi Ambro and her husband, Chris, Dawn Caro and her husband, Cesar, Eric Carabine and his wife, Alicia, Kristin Carabine and her partner, Danny, Lindsay Rousseau, Anthony Rousseau, and Sarah Carabine and her partner, Casey; her six cherished great grandchildren, Chase, Reagen, and Addison Ambro and Evan, Charlotte, and Natalie Carabine; her dear sister-in-law, Barbara LaValley of Springfield; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving daughter-in-law, Ann L. Carabine who was Called Home on June 28, 2004; her loving son-in-law, Edward D. Moran who was Called Home on September 8, 2012; and her two dear brothers, Raymond LaValley and Francis LaValley. Her funeral services and burial will be held at a later date.
