Obituary

LORETTA (DIGRAVIO) DEVITO, 87, a Hingham resident for 40 years, died peacefully, after a long illness at her home surrounded by her family on Saturday, Feb. 11th. Born in Quincy, whe was one of ten children of the late Loreto and Concetta (D'Orazio) DiGravio. She graduated from Quincy High School and lived in Cohasset before moving to Hingham where she and her late husband, Sam DeVito, Sr. raised their family. During World War II, she worked as a blueprint drafter at the Hingham Shipyard. A wonderful cook, Mrs. DeVito managed the cafeteria at South Junior High School in Hingham and catered for many local events with her dear friend and caterer the late Hope Jermyn of Hingham.

She was the mother of Sam DeVito, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Hingham, Loretta Harrigan and her husband Timothy of West Newbury and the late June Oliver. Sister of Lillian Pizzi of No. Weymouth, Lorraine Ferrante of Greenfield, Nello DiGravio of Brockton, and the late; Irma Kurtgis, Dora Shaw, Madeline Donahue, Angelina DiGravio, Vicker DiGravio and Ugo Rosselli. Also survived by former son-in-law, J. John Holleran and his wife Janet of Hingham, 8 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and many loving nieces and nephews.

Known as "Nonnie" to both her family and their friends, she was an excellent seamstress, cook, loved doing crossword puzzles, reading and taking care of her two zebra finches which were a gift from her late daughter.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Wednesday, Feb. 15th at 11 AM at the Downing Cottage Funeral Chapel, 21 Pond St., Hingham.

Visiting hours and flowers omitted by request. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the charity of one's choice.

The interment will be in Woodside Cemetery, Cohasset.
