Richard Emery Groves, 76, of Sandown, NH, formerly of Atkinson, NH passed away Sunday April 5, 2020 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Richard was born September 3, 1943 in Chicago, IL and was a son of the late Arthur and Elvira (Palermo) Groves. He was raised and educated in Chicago. Richard resided in Atkinson, for many years, prior to relocating to Sandown, 16 years ago.
Richard served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Pease AFB, in NH at the end of his enlistment and decided to make NH his home. He served for 10+ years as a police officer with the town of Rochester, NH and later as a court officer, in Rochester and Salem, NH. Richard was a member of the NH Police Association, an avid coin collector and enjoyed the Internet.
Members of the family include his wife of 32 years, Karen (Healey) Groves of Sandown, a son and his wife, Jared & Kelly Groves of Atkinson, a daughter and her husband, Wendy M. Walsh & Tom Paschetto of Salem, MA, four grandchildren, Brady, Dylan, Ella and Aaron and five great grandchildren. Richard was predeceased by his brother, Arthur Groves, a daughter, Laura S. Chase, a grandson, Heath Chase.
