Obituary

“For You, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of your hands.”– Psalm 92:4
It’s with great sadness we share the news of Ron’s passing on April 2, 2020 after a long illness. Ron was at his home in Ventura with his wife, Nina. Hardly ever apart, Ron went peacefully in his sleep after Nina thanked him for allowing her to care for him during this time.
Ron was born in Stockton, CA, and moved to Ventura in 1959 where he attended Ventura High School. Ron served as a U.S. Marine from 1966-1970, going on to receive his Bachelor of Science degree at Cal State Northridge. During this time, Ron immersed himself in weight training, yoga and nutrition years before it became a Southern California lifestyle.
In the early 1970’s, Ron returned to Ventura and began cutting hair, owning two hair salons, Classic Hairstyles and later Pure Attraction. Affectionately known as “the Mayor of Ventura” his clients remained loyal throughout his career until retirement in 2017. Ron enjoyed volunteering at local homeless shelters and at the Veteran’s Home in Ventura, cutting hair for those in need several times a year. Most importantly, Ron was a man of deep faith and loved sharing the word of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
“His Lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’” – Matthew 25:23
Ron is survived by his wife Nina Lopez, Ventura; his daughter Tanya (Lopez) Bures and her husband Jim Bures, Venice; Tanya’s Half-Brother Adam Miguel, Oakland; Granddaughter Tashel Raville, Thousand Oaks; Grandson Adam Lopez, Lompoc; Granddaughters Ruby and Clara Bures, Venice; Sister Gloria Capute and brother-in-law Joseph Capute, Port Hueneme; Sister Delia Lara, Ventura; four (4) great-grandchildren and five (5) nieces. He is also survived by Nina’s three (3)children and their spouses, three (3) granddaughters and five (5) great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his mom Cathy Salas, Ventura, and his son Mario F.E. Lopez, Ventura.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Cancer Society. In light of the current health crisis and the Stay at Home order in California, a celebration of life will take place at a later date.
