Robert E. Caruso of Medford died on Monday, March 30, at Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital of New England in Woburn, MA. Born and raised in Somerville, he was the son of the late Alfred and Phyllis (Chardo) Caruso. Robert was the longtime owner and operator of Wellesley Freight Lines of Somerville. Before it closed, Robert loved to spend time at Wonderland Greyhound Racetrack in Revere.
Robert was the beloved husband of Patricia (DeRosa) Caruso, and the devoted father of Linda Cawthron and her husband Brian of Woburn, Susan Martignetti and her husband Joseph of North Reading, and Lisa Santoro of Peabody. He was the loving grandfather of Joseph Martini, Michael Santoro, and the late Robert Martini and Leana Santoro. Robert was the dear brother of the late William Caruso and his late wife Delores, and is survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial mass will be scheduled for a later date.
