Craig Morgan Wilcox, 63, of Waterview Drive, Smithfield, passed away Saturday March 28th in the Roger Williams Medical Center, Providence surrounded by his family. He was married to the love of his life, Karen A. (Laboissonniere) Wilcox.
Born in Webster, MA, Craig was the son of the late Francis and Excelle (Morgan) Wilcox. Growing up one of eight children made for a very eventful childhood. He was a graduate of the University of RI class of 1978.
Craig worked with his good friend Joseph Caruso and was a National Sales Representative for Pyramid Case Company in Providence. He also held the prestigious title of “Papa”, a job he took just as seriously. To his grandchildren, he was a superhero.
Craig’s life was nothing short of extraordinary. He was larger than life and always made people feel welcome. He had a magnetic personality and a smile that everyone was drawn to. Most people who know him have a specific “Craig Story” that gets retold often.
Sports were a huge part of Craig’s life. Most weekends he could be found around the state at various fields/courts watching his family play. Craig was an avid golfer and self-proclaimed champion of corn hole. He was a singer of carols, lover of a good recliner, pursuer of the perfect Christmas tree, tall tale teller, irish exiter, dice rolling dancer, Papa, Dad, and Husband.
Besides his wife he leaves his children, Krystal E. Hilton (Troy Hilton) of Greenville, Elizabeth A. Wilcox (Kenneth Minot) of Cumberland, Lisa J. Taylor (Christopher Taylor) of Cumberland, Craig M. Wilcox, Jr. (Chelsea Steere) of Providence, Lindsay M. Pacheco (David Pacheco) of Dighton, MA, Matthew L. Laboissonniere of Smithfield and Katherine J. Laboissonniere of Smithfield, nine grandchildren, Jacob, Paige, Morgan, Devin, Ethan, Jaelyn, Lucas, Sarah and Benjamin. He also leaves his siblings, Debbie Elliott of Cumberland, Jeanne Worman of Milton, DE, Kerrie Laberge-Carbone of Smithfield, Richard Wilcox of Riverside and David Wilcox of Hanahan, SC and all of his #1 nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Michael Wilcox and Scott Wilcox.
A private funeral was held. A celebration of Craig’s life will be held at a later date.
