Obituary

Mary Paulos Collins (Mrs. OL) departed this life peacefully on March 30, 2020, at the age of 98.

Born in Augusta, GA, she was the last surviving child of her parents James G. Paulos and Avia Little Paulos. She was preceded in death by her five brothers: Denos Paulos, George Paulos, Harry Paulos, Chris Paulos, Alex Paulos; and one sister, Catherine Laster. Her husband of 52 years, OL Collins (deceased), was the love of her life.

She was very proud of her family’s legacy in Augusta and her Greek heritage having been a life-long member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church. She will be remembered as the perfect housewife, her home being her delight. An excellent cook, her biscuits, dressing, roast and gravy are legendary. Always immaculately dressed, with a sweet smile, charm, and beautiful auburn hair, she was the perfect Southern lady. Her example will be missed.

She is survived by one daughter: Alex McClain (Ben)of North Augusta, SC; two grandchildren: Paul McClain (Emily) of Lawrenceville, GA and Avia McClain-Stocker (Andrew) of Augusta; and four great grandchildren: Julia Hill, Madelyn (Maddie) Hill, Graham McClain, and Eleanor McClain; and many, many, many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank the staff of Pruitt Health – Augusta Hills and Pruitt Hospice for their compassionate and loving care Mary received over the last year. She was truly touched by angels.

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic, funeral and burial services will be private with a memorial to be held at a later date.

Donations may be made to Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church; 943 Telfair Street; Augusta, GA 30901.
