Obituary

Colleen A. Lyons, Buxton, Maine, September 1, 1966 – March, 28, 2020

BUXTON- It is with tremendous earthly sorrow that we announce the passing of Colleen “Coco” Lyons. In Heaven, however, there is much rejoicing at her arrival. Following a courageous and hard-fought battle with colon cancer, she left this world at peace and at home in the presence of those she loved and held dear.

Colleen is survived by her husband, Scott, son Connor and his wife Deanna, son Scott and his wife Brandi, and their four children, Cassidy, Dylan, Carter, and Addilyn. Colleen is also survived by her parents, Maureen and Vincent Doddrell, her brother Jeff Doddrell, Aunt Merle Del Polito, and extended family. She also leaves behind her faithful furry friends, Fenway, Wrigley, and Karma.

In 1991 Colleen married the love of her life, Scott, and together raised their two boys into fine men. Throughout their years together they enjoyed travel, concerts, gourmet meals, the company of family and friends, and time on Casco Bay. As is the case with many, their marriage was put to the test but by the grace of God they came together stronger than ever, not only with love for each other, but with new faith in God.

Colleen had a lifelong love of food and was a great cook. If she prepared a meal or made treats for you it was like winning a lottery! She and her mom often crafted together and created true works of art frequently given as gifts, which are cherished by many. Additionally, she thoroughly enjoyed home decorating and shopping, and her green thumb was second only to her culinary abilities.

Colleen loved life and even when times were tough her tenacious spirit and sense of humor were of huge benefit to her and those around her. She had the ability to lighten a moment with her quick wit and to entertain you with impressions which would make you laugh to the point of tears.

Colleen will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, friends, and colleagues whose lives she deeply touched.

Colleen specifically asked that sincere gratitude and appreciation be expressed for the faithful support of her family, friends, church family, as well as Dr. Matthew Dugan and his staff at New England Cancer Specialists. Her wish to remain at home was made possible by the loving efforts of many, but were greatly enhanced by her devoted and selfless cousins Debbie and Sue.

A memorial service will be held at Eastpoint Christian Church when it is healthier for crowds to gather.

Should you be so inclined, in lieu of flowers, Colleen requested that gifts be made to either Eastpoint Christian Church, 345 Clarks Pond Pkwy, South Portland, ME 04106 (eastpoint.church) or The Dempsey Center, 778 Main Street, South Portland, ME 04106 (dempseycenter.org).
