Obituary

CHICOPEE – Charles H. “Charlie” Longe Jr., 71, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 28, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Sherburne, Vermont on July 2, 1948, a beloved son of the late Charles Henry Longe Sr. and Shirley Edna (Phillips) Longe. His early years were spent in Vermont and in the mid 60’s he came to Holyoke where he lived until moving to Chicopee around 2003. Charles served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was employed as a machinist and supervisor at the former National Blank Book, later Dennison National, and then Avery Dennison in Holyoke. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 404 and the Tigers Athletic Club both in Chicopee Falls. Most of all, he loved his family and his many friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend of 16 years, Karan S. (Motley) Longe; his loving son, Roger J. Longe and his wife, Joyce, of Westmoreland, TN; his loving daughter, Kim M. Allore of South Hadley; his four cherished grandchildren, Ryan Longe and Ashley Koske and Breauna Allore and Zackery Allore; his cherished great-granddaughter, Blakelynn Longe; his dear brother, Andy Longe and his wife, Tina, of White River Jct., VT; his two dear sisters, Corinne Longe of White River Jct., VT and Sherry Longe of Ludlow, VT; his dear former brother-in-law, Nelson Dale Rickert of Ludlow, VT; his dear nephews and nieces, Nelson Charles Rickert, Kenny Carter II, T. J. Longe, Annie Rickert, Monica Thompson Sorrentino and Katie Rikert; his dear great-nephew and great-nieces, Nick Rickert, Kimberly Marro, Lyndsay Marro and Ashley Wells; and his many dear cousins and numerous friends. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear brothers, Robert Longe and Keith Longe and his dear former sister-in-law, Dottie Longe.
