Obituary

Rita Helen (Dupere) Gosselin, 96 , passed away very peacefully at Langdon Place of Dover on March 27, 2020. Rita was born to George and Roseanna (Simard) Dupere in Manchester, on Nov. 12, 1923, the 10th of 15 children. She spent her childhood years on a farm in Londonderry where she attended most of her classes in a one room school house. She also received some years of education at St. Anthony’s in Manchester always wishing she could have attended high school. She strived on intellectually improving herself by completing the daily Crossword puzzle and Cryptoquip. She gained great self satisfaction when she completed the Nurse’s Aide Program and worked at Sacred Heart Hospital.

Soon after her marriage in 1947, Rita and her husband Dominique, built the family home on So. Mammoth Rd where they raised their 4 children. Rita’s great pride of their home reflected in her thriving vegetable garden and multiple flower gardens despite her battles with woodchucks. She resided there for 62 years.

Her greatest joy, however, was her love of music, learning to play the piano and passing this on to her children. Her enjoyment of listening to one of them playing an instrument surpassed everything.

Rita was a parishioner of St. Anthony’s in Manchester. She had a deep rooted Catholic faith with a great devotion to our Blessed Mother, St Joseph and the Monastery of the Precious Blood. Rita not only shared this faith with her children but also modeled the values of hard work, saving for a rainy day and perseverance to perfect her recipes for dinner rolls, oatmeal cookies and the “best” pecan pie.

Her children will never forget the 12 years of home care that she provided for our father after a severe stroke. She sacrificed everything to keep the “homestead” financially solid by keeping him out of a nursing home. She wanted so much to have something to pass on to her children. For all you did Mom, we are eternally grateful.

Rita is preceded by her husband, Dominique, her 13 siblings and spouses. She is survived by her daughter Marie (Gosselin)Morency and spouse Richard of Rochester, NH; her son Ronald Gosselin and wife Natalie of Ocoee, Fl; her son Denis Gosselin of Hooksett, NH and her daughter Diane (Gosselin) Larochelle and spouse Paul of Dayton, Oh; 6 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by approximately 50 nephews and nieces. She was predeceased in February 2021 by her brother Armand Dupere.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on June 12, 2021 at 11:00am at St Jude Parish, 435 Mammoth Rd., Londonderry. The family welcomes you to gather with them at the church from 10 - 11:00am prior to the Mass. Burial will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Londonderry.
