Obituary

HOLLAND – Maurice P. “Moe” Powers, 88, a longtime resident of Holland, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 22, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at the home he loved surrounded by all the memories he loved and cherished. He was born in Holyoke on September 13, 1931, one of eight children of the late Maurice Patrick Powers and Bertha (Loomis) Powers. He was raised in Holyoke, graduated from Holyoke High School and lived in the city for many years, then moved to South Hadley and settled in Holland around 1975 where he lived the remainder of his life. Moe served his country in the United States Navy. He was employed in the Research and Development Department at the former Techifax Corporation, later Scott Graphics, then James River Graphics and retired around 2005, where he remained as a consultant for many years following retirement. He was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in South Hadley and was a member of the Professional Photographers Society of New York. He leaves his loving brother, Donald J. Powers and his wife, Carolyn, of South Hadley; and his many cherished nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, great-grandnephews and great-grandnieces. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his six loving siblings, Edwin Powers and his wife, Jean, George Powers, June Taylor, Robert Powers and his wife, Anne, Shirley Garvulenski, and Patricia Lecca and her husband, George. In addition, he was also predeceased by his longtime dear friend, Roger Williams. There will be a private family graveside service with United States Navy Military Honors at Saint Rose Cemetery in South Hadley.
