HUDSON, NH – Edward Thomas Duffett, age 78, a former resident of Tewksbury and DEC retiree, died unexpectedly at his Hudson, NH residence, Monday March 23, from an apparent heart attack. He was the beloved husband and best friend of Patricia J. (Sullivan) Duffett, with whom he had celebrated a fifty-sixth wedding anniversary this past June 21st.
Eddie was born in Everett, one of two sons of the late Russell and Harriet, (Cardeleen) Duffett, and raised in Tewksbury. He was a member of Tewksbury Memorial High School, Class of 1959, went on to receive a Bachelors Degree from Merrimack College, and a Masters Degree from Suffolk University. He retired from Digital Equipment Company as a purchasing manager, after nearly twenty-years of service.
Ed will be remembered for his love of family and cherishing every moment spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He enjoyed summers in Newport, VT, family Disney vacations, annual trips to Canobie Lake Park, and most recently family cruises, always in the role of a proud “Papa.” He gave his time to the Robinson Pond Association as a volunteer, and for the past 17 years had wintered in Deerfield Beach, Florida, surrounded by old and new friends. Ed also enjoyed, cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, reading, researching genealogy, world travel, gardening, BINGO with Rick, hanging out with his good friend Matt, cribbage, and playing “Dad’s Rules” Rummikub.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Debra Anne Hidalgo and her husband Jeffery of Litchfield, NH; a son, Mark Edward Duffett and his wife Patricia (Howe) of Nashua, NH; a son-in-law, Mark Jozokos of Pelham, NH, the husband of his late daughter, Susan Marie Jozokos; eight adored grandchildren, Harrison and Bridgette Hidalgo, Justin, Kaitlin, Josephine, and Matthew Jozokos, Liam and Olivia Duffett; his brother, Albert Duffett and his wife Michelle of Merrimack, NH; and many nieces and nephews.
Due to Covid-19 virus restrictions, funeral services are private. A “Celebration of Life” service will be announced when the crisis has passed.
