Obituary

On Sunday March 22, 2020, Carol A. Mills graduated on to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her God, “Who so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him, should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16)

Carol, the daughter of Edna and Ernest Moniz, was born and raised in New Bedford and later moved to Dartmouth where she graduated from Dartmouth High School.

She returned to New Bedford where she worked at Sears and Roebuck, Cornell-Dubilier, and finally as a teacher’s aide for the New Bedford School Department.

She was a devoted wife to Allen E. Mills and they celebrated their 60th “Diamond Jubilee” wedding anniversary this past August.

A collector and member of Immanuel Baptist Church, Carol’s great loves were sewing and gardening, but nothing compared to her love of being a wife, homemaker, mother, and grandmother. Her warm, welcoming smile will be sorely missed.

She is survived by her husband, Allen E. Mills, her daughter, Deborah Motta and her husband Eric, her son, Allen Mills and his wife Kimberly, and her youngest son, Robert Mills and his wife Jacqueline. She was be remembered fondly by her six grandchildren, Jennifer Rice and her husband Jeremy, Eric Motta and his girlfriend, Rhianmor, Jessica Motta and her boyfriend, Christian, Allen J. Mills and his fiancée Holly, Rebecca Mills, and Alyssa Cooley and her husband Jason, parents of her great-grandson, Eugene Cooley.

Due to current restrictions on public gatherings, a private family service will be held with burial at Rural Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
