Joyce Ann Zimmerman, 82, of Anderson, died Saturday, March 21, 2020 at Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was born on July 29, 1937 in Hutchison, Kansas; then lived in Satanta, Kansas before moving to Anderson in 1954. She was a graduate of Anderson High School in 1956. She started her nursing career at St. Johns, stopped to raise her two children; later returned to nursing as a night nurse at Anderson College and a few nursing homes in Madison County and was a nursing home resident Ombudsman for State of Indiana. She was a dedicated RN, served on as a board member of the Y.W.C.A. in the 1980's, and also wrote a column for the Anderson Herald-Bulletin. She attended Park Place Church of God, enjoyed quilting and was an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Ernest "Gene" Zimmerman; two children, Paul Zimmerman and April Zimmerman; three grandchildren, Nicholas and Nathaniel Zimmerman and Kathryn Anderson -Riga; 5 great grandchildren; Victoria, Grant, Grace Marie, Drake, and Kendall; one great great grandchild, Lukas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert L. and Elsie Pearl Alexander; a brother, John Leroy Williams; sister, Edna Alexander; also preceded by her birth parents, Ross and Valley Williams.
Cremation has been chosen by the family with a Memorial Service to be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Park Place Church of God Food Pantry.
