Obituary

Philip Michael Walsh, 86, of Milford, NH, died Monday March 16, 2020, in Southern NH Medical Center, Nashua, NH. He was born in North Andover, MA on October 12, 1933, a son of Patrick and Mabel (Friel) Walsh. A longtime resident of Derry, NH, Philip was a great lover of golf winning several tournaments in retirement and even scoring two holes in one. He enjoyed skiing, spending some time as a ski instructor, and riding horses as well. Philip made a career as a graphic illustrator, worked for many companies throughout the years and had his own business. At one point he worked for an American firm in Saudi Arabia for a year leading a graphics team. Art was his passion, even outside of work he spent time creating various charcoal and paint portraits. After retirement he became fascinated with how geometric images could provide mathematical insights, he even discovered a theorem confirmed by the head of the Yale Mathematics Department as new and valid. Above all, Philip loved being a grandpa who cherished his grandchildren.

He is survived by son John Corliss and wife Susan of Andover, MA and children Madeleine, Anna, Eliza and Charlotte; daughter Kerry Query of Plaistow, NH and children Emily and Meghan; daughter Kathleen Hensley of Litchfield, NH and children Sean, Sarah and Samantha; son Joseph Walsh of Derry, NH and several nieces and nephews. Philip is predeceased by his brothers, Raymond, John, Edward and George Walsh and sister Patricia Smith.

Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at a later date. The Peabody Funeral Homes & Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH, is assisting the family with arrangements.
