Obituary

WALES – Bernice M. (Harnisch) Laurin, 77, of Wales and Wildwood, Florida, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, March 11, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at The Villages Hospital in Florida surrounded by all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Springfield on June 7, 1942, the beloved daughter of the late Normand and Leona M. (Cantin) Harnisch. She was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee, graduated from the former Precious Blood High School in Holyoke, and had lived in Chicopee and later in Ludlow for 30 years before moving to Wales in 2000. She had wintered with her husband, Bernard, in Florida since 2003. She was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and a communicant and choir member of the Catholic Community of Saint Elizabeth at Saint John the Baptist Church in Ludlow and Saint Christopher Church in Brimfield. During her leisure time, she loved spending time with her family and her many friends. She leaves her beloved husband and best friend, Bernard L. Laurin. They were married on October 27, 1962 at Sainte Rose de Lima Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 57 years of happiness together. She also leaves her three loving children, Michael B. Laurin and his wife, Sharon, of South Hadley, Theresa M. “Terry” Joseph and her husband, William, of Tewksbury, and Thomas R. Laurin and his wife, Jennifer, of Wellfleet; her seven cherished grandchildren, Olivia Mansur and her husband, Ethan, Nathaniel Laurin and his partner, Nicole Dietz, Laurin Joseph and her partner, Chris Briggs, Alex Joseph, Caroline Moyer Laurin and her partner, Sarah Knight, Caleb Moyer Laurin and Will Moyer Laurin; her three dear brothers-in-law, Richard Laurin and his wife, Jean, of Chicopee, Bob Laurin and his wife, Linda, of Belchertown and Dan Laurin and his wife, Linda, of Chicopee; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Laurin and Harnisch families. Her visiting hours, funeral services and burial will be private for her family. A public memorial service will be held at a later date.
