Mae Ruth Purvis, 85, of Ocilla, Georgia, died Thursday, March 12, 2020, at Tift Regional Medical Center in Tifton, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM, Saturday, March 14, 2020, at The Paulk Funeral Home Chapel in Ocilla, with the Rev. George C. Paulk officiating. Interment will follow in the Riverbend Cemetery, in Irwin County, Georgia. The family will receive friends Saturday morning, from 10 AM until 11 AM, at the funeral home in Ocilla.
Mrs. Purvis was born October 27, 1934, in, Berrien County Georgia, to the late Grady & Bessie Griffin Paulk. She graduated from Berrien County High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed growing flowers and her pet cats. Mrs. Purvis was a member of Riverbend Baptist Church.
She is survived by sons: Herman Purvis, Jr. of Ocilla and Brad & Deanne Purvis of Ocilla; grandchildren: Liz Cary & Richard of Wilmington, Delaware, Travis Purvis & Beth of Lax, Chance Purvis of Ocilla and Eli Purvis of Ocilla; a sister Annie Jim Daniels of Fitzgerald; and a daughter-in-law, Bonnie & Joe Nobles of Ocilla. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Purvis; a son, Derwin Purvis; a brother, Coy Paulk and two sisters: Rupert Jernigan and Marie Outten.
