Margaret T. "Peg" (Meehan) Canney, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln. She was 89 years old.
Peg was born in Boston on December 29, 1930, a daughter of the late Robert Meehan and Catherine (Connolly) Meehan. She grew up in Charlestown where she attended St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from a Catholic High School in Cambridge. Peg was a homemaker throughout her adult life, taking care of her beloved family.
Peg is the beloved wife of the late Daniel E. Canney Jr. She is the devoted mother of Michael G. Canney of Charlestown, Catherine T. Donahue and her husband Dana of Charlestown, RI, Mary Beth Hetherton and her partner Jimmy Gallagher of Winthrop, and the late Daniel E. Canney III. She is the loving Nana to John, Kimberly, Nicole Donahue, Jaclyn, William, and Carolyn Hetherton, and to her great-granddaughter Catie Mae Hatch. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Mary Canney and Patricia Meehan, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Peg's visiting hours on Monday morning March 16, 2020 from 9 to 10:30 A.M in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St., Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford.
