Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Theresa M. (DeGray) Narreau, 88, of East Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, March 10, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at her home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving daughter, Karen. She was born in Springfield on November 19, 1931, a beloved daughter of the late Arthur and Emma (Gibeau) DeGray. She was raised in the Indian Orchard section of Springfield and graduated from Cathedral High School. She moved to Sevierville, TN in 1997 where she lived with her late husband for many years before returning to East Springfield in 2016. She was employed as an Emergency Room Secretary at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield. During her leisure time, she enjoyed reading, crocheting, listening to music, socializing with family and friends, trips to Matunuck Beach and was a longtime Girl Scout leader. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Adelard J. “Ed” Narreau who was Called Home on September 4, 2010. They were married at the former Saint Aloysius Church in Indian Orchard and were blessed with over 59 years of happiness together. She leaves her devoted daughter with whom she lived, Karen M. Narreau. She also leaves three additional children, Theresa E. Adams, David C. Narreau and Cynthia Shea; six grandchildren including her cherished and devoted grandson, Adam Narreau; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Narreau and DeGray families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Curtis Adams; her brother, Arthur DeGray and his former wife, Rita, and her sister, Lorraine Rhodes and her husband, Dusty. Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 9 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. before the Mass. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
