Antonina M. Cotugno, at the age of 89, passed away peacefully on March 8th 2020, surrounded by her family.
She was married to the late Horace S. Cotugno formerly of South Boston. Beloved mother of Stephen Cotugno and longtime girlfriend Joanne Speranza, Lawrence Cotugno and Maria Petrillo and her husband Paolo Petrillo of South Boston. Antonina was the daughter of the late Giuseppe Motta and the late Carmela (Costa) Motta of Sicily, Italy. Dear sister of Vittorio Motta and his wife Piera, Lucia Scarpaci, Maria Materia and her husband Giuseppe of Italy. Loving sister of the late Stefano Motta, Giuseppe Motta, and Luigino Motta. Also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews.
Antonina was a talented seamstress with a real passion for creating. She made everything she touched beautiful. She also loved cooking and entertaining friends and family, and always had a quick wit and great sense of humor who drew you in with her gorgeous smile. She enjoyed traveling to Sicily to visit family as often as she could. Antonina, most importantly, was a devoted mother and a beautiful person inside and out, who gave all of her heart to her family, who will miss her deeply every single day!
Family and friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours at the Casper Funeral Home, 187 Dorchester Street, South Boston on Wednesday March 11th 2020 from 4-8 PM. Followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Brigid’s Church, South Boston on Thursday March 12th at 10 AM. Interment at The Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 1:15 PM.
