Obituary

CHICOPEE – Thelma G. (Berger) Dockum, 87, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, March 7, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Mount Saint Vincent Care Center in Holyoke surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born at home in Chicopee on August 22, 1932, a beloved daughter of the late Edmond W. and Angelina (Guertin) Berger. She was raised in the Aldenville section of Chicopee where she lived for many years before moving to Fairview in 1970. She was employed as a breakfast hostess at the Hampton Inn on Memorial Drive in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she enjoyed shopping and her family always told her that she was “supporting the economy” with her spending. Above all, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Jack A. Dockum who was Called Home on June 18, 1994. She leaves her four loving children, Brian D. Mason, Lynn D. Lavigne and her husband, Gary, Scott F. Mason and his wife, Donna, and Cynthia A. Chamberlain, all of Chicopee; her loving step-daughter, Jackie Lynn Wortham of Wichita Falls, TX; her loving daughter-in-law, Karen Mason of Virginia; her ten cherished grandchildren; her 18 cherished great-grandchildren; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Dockum, Berger, Mason, Moreau and Simmons families. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her beloved son, Lance L. Mason who was Called Home on February 23, 2016; and her loving son-in-law, Jeffrey T. Chamberlain who was Called Home on January 11, 2014; her dear brother, Edmond; and her five dear sisters, Beatrice, Loretta, Blanche, Martha and Theresa. Her funeral services will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Her services are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020, (funeral home will open at 12 Noon). The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will be private at Sainte Rose Cemetery in Chicopee.
