Obituary

EAST LONGMEADOW – Gloria (DeMont) Bergamini, 95, of East Longmeadow and a former resident of Somers, Connecticut, was Called Safely Home on Friday, February 21, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded all the memories she loved and cherished. She was born in Hartford, CT on January 19, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Frederick W. and Ella (Schatz) DeMont. She was raised in East Hartford, CT and graduated from East Hartford High School. She had lived in Longmeadow for 30 years where her late husband, William, built their family home. She later moved to East Longmeadow where she lived for 35 years before moving to Somers in 2013 and returned to East Longmeadow in 2015. She was employed as a secretary at Pratt and Whitney in East Hartford. During her leisure time, she enjoyed bowling and playing bridge. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and soul mate, William L. Bergamini who was Called Home on April 16, 2015. They were married on November 1, 1947 at Saint Mary Church in East Hartford, CT and were blessed with over 67 years of happiness together. She leaves her two loving daughters, Sandra B. Kirkland and her husband, J. Bryan Kirkland, of West Suffield, CT and Linda B. Squire and her husband, Stephen D. Squire, of Longmeadow; her five cherished grandchildren whom she adored, Dylan Kirkland, Haley Kirkland and her husband, Brian Frenette, Drew Kirkland, Samuel Squire and Lindsey Sullivan and her husband, Ryan Sullivan; her cherished great-grandson, Niall Sullivan; her dear sister-in-law, Gina Bergamini; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended members of the Bergamini and DeMont families. Besides her parents and husband, she was also predeceased by her dear brother, Wallace DeMont and his wife, Helen; and her dear sister, Lorraine Nikitich. Her Committal Service will be private at the Massachusetts Veterans' Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
