Joann "JoJo" Carol (Fitzwater) Chapman, 84, passed away with her husband and daughter by her side, on Sunday, March 8, 2020, at The Woodlands in Muncie following an extended illness.
She was born on December 25, 1935, in Fairmont, West Virginia, the daughter of Otmer and Ruby (Lamb) Fitzwater Finley and John Finley. Joann was foremost a homemaker, but she worked many years as an office manager/receptionist in the area for Dr. Laconi, Dr. Gary Smith and Dr. Charles Jones. She was a member of East Side Church of God. Joann loved the gathering for family meals and enjoyed her grandchildren tremendously.
She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Floyd M. Chapman of Daleville; her daughter, Cathy (Terry) Eckert of Ft. Wayne; four grandchildren, Josh (Julie) Chapman, Jason Chapman, Matt Chapman and Lindsay (Derek) Fisher; four great-grandchildren, Colin, Nolan, Evan and Brody; and her sister, Vada Sharpe of Lapel; a daughter-in-law, Paula Chapman and several nieces and nephews.
Joann was preceded in death by her parents, her son Allan Chapman, and siblings Hazel Finley, Johnnie Fitzwater and Charles Fitzwater.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Rozelle-Johnson Funeral Service with Pastor Mary Ann Randolph officiating.
Burial will take place at Star of Hope Cemetery in Huntington, IN.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at the funeral home.
