William E. Anderson, 90, of New Bedford died March 2, 2020 peacefully at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Helen D. (Victor) Anderson.
Born and raised in Clayton, AL, son of the late Charles and Estelle (Griffin) Anderson, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
He was formerly employed as a presser in several local suit manufacturers for many years until his retirement. He also was employed as an auto mechanic, race car driver and as a CNA in several local nursing homes.
He will be remembered as a good man who enjoyed his friends and cars.
Survivors include his wife; 3 sons, William E. Anderson, Jr. of New Bedford, Dennis Anderson of Middletown, RI and Seneca Ettress of Sumner, GA; 4 daughters, Lela Anderson, Denise Anderson, Camille Anderson and Kathleen Vancour, all of New Bedford; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Arthur Anderson and Mary Irvin.
His funeral arrangements will be private.
