Obituary

Albert M. “Al” Gaeta passed away peacefully at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington on Saturday, February 29th. He was 69. A proud life-long resident of Medford, Al was the son of the late Albert M. and Concetta (Provenzano) Gaeta. He was equally proud of growing up around Morrison Park in Medford where he formed some of his closest life-long friendships. After graduating from Medford High School with the class of 1968, he enlisted in the Coast Guard Reserve. He enjoyed 12 years working with TWA and to this day maintained friendships with many former colleagues. Al also worked for many years managing printing services for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts until his retirement. Al was a loving husband, father, papa, brother and friend. For years, he was active in many facets of parish life at Saint Francis of Assisi in Medford. He served as President of the Holy Name Society from 1990-1991. In recent years, Al enjoyed every opportunity to be a “papa”. He loved spending time with his three grandchildren. He also developed a love for Aruba and looked forward to spending time there, every November, with Diane and their friends, where every day was a beach day.

The beloved husband of Diane M. (Selvitella) Gaeta, he was a devoted father to Jacqui Chaffins and her husband Bryan, and Andrea Toomey and her husband Corey, all of Billerica. He was a proud and loving papa to Ava, Alex and Josh. Al was the dear brother of Janis Mini and her husband Mike of Saugus, the late Peggy DeSimone, and dear “brother” of Dave and Melanie Selvitella of Wakefield. He was a devoted son-in-law to Barbara and the late Arthur Selvitella. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
