Obituary

Old Orchard Beach - David Paul Plante, 63, passed away on February 28, 2020 at Maine Medical Center from complications of the flu and pneumonia. David was born in Lewiston, ME on February 18, 1957 to the late Paul Plante and Mary Moseley Plante. He attended Lewiston High School and worked a number of years for BIW. David then found a home when he found his career at Maine Auto Radiator. He dedicated much of his adult life working as the Production Manager but it was the relationships he was able to build while there that meant the most to him.

David was predeceased by his wife Brenda Nadeau and his brother Mark. David is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Lynn (Palmitessa) Plante, daughter Markie Bineau and her husband Branden Bineau, stepchildren - Amanda Connolly and her husband Patrick Connolly, Erin MacDonald and her husband Cory MacDonald, and Brad Parker and wife Jennifer Parker; five grandchildren - Devin, Gauge, Maylin, Declan and Avery; step mother Lorraine Plante; and siblings - Lisa and husband Jerry, Pat, Kathleen and husband Russ, Rick and wife Denise, and Gary and wife Joy.

David was a man that never wavered. He was always himself and happy being just that. In conversation, he always knew how to throw in a funny comment or two that you couldn’t help but laugh at. David was a man willing to offer love and acceptance to all he knew, regardless of circumstance. He was forgiving, he was free spirited, and he was a man you couldn’t easily forget.

David was a man of many talents. He had a deep knowledge of mythology and medieval history, one that seemed to go beyond his years. He enjoyed working with his hands. You could often catch him with arms crossed contemplating his next project. The lesser known talent, his poetry and art. After his passing, Lynn found a book hidden in plain site. The poem below is an example of his old poetic soul and his dorky, dry humor.

“In this life we have moments that lift us up,
That make us believe everything we do is worth it,
That life has meaning,
That there is a divine presence that molds events and opens up doors and paths for us to follow toward a great plan,
And in those moments we shine our spirits,
Sing our souls uplifted,
Our minds and hearts beat as one in one song of the universe,
We are at peace, joy, bliss, rapture,
And then the rest of the time it’s boring as hell”
- David Plante

David and Lynn liked to spend their summers tenting in the wilderness. They would often go kayaking, David with a fishing pole in hand. He created a picturesque backyard oasis that him, Lynn, friends and family could enjoy. All on his own, he built a beautiful fire pit and an unusual octagon deck. Lynn provided the finishing touches with her green thumb and painting skills. Together, Lynn and David enjoyed spending time making their visions for their home come to life.

Lynn and David enjoyed riding their motorcycles together. Their passion for motorcycles took them on adventures throughout New England. Their love of riding also introduced them to the Southern Maine Portland Harley Owners Group where they would meet life long friends.

On Sunday, March 8th from noon to 4pm, there will be a BEER, BOOTS, AND JEANS celebration in honor of Dave. Please join us at:
