Obituary

Joseph Pellecchia, of Lynnfield formerly of Malden, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on February 27, 2020. He was 91 years old.

Joseph, affectionately known as Peppino, was born and raised in Naples, Italy, where he met the love of his life, Tina. They were married for 57 years. They came to America on August 15, 1968 to have a better life. He was beaming with pride when he became an American citizen on July 1, 1974 and loved working for the Gillette Company where he was employed for over 25 years.

The title he was most proud of was Papá. His daughter Nancy was the apple of his eye, who he adored so much.

He was blessed to have two grandchildren who he loved completely. Nonno never missed a dance recital for Alex or a soccer game for Matthew. They were a constant source of pride for him. And he reveled in their love and successes.

He was so looking forward to his beautiful Alex getting married to her love of her life, DJ, who he loved like another grandson. He and DJ shared a love of soccer and enjoyed watching games together.

He was so proud of Matthew, his partner in crime, who will be graduating from Bentley in the spring. There aren’t enough words to describe his love for his family.

He also spent his days with his granddog, Coco as they spent many days going for walks around the neighborhood and then taking their afternoon naps. He also lived alongside Jay, who was like a son to him.

In the later years, Peppino further showed his dedication to Tina by taking care of her and visiting her every day in the nursing home. Although she has dementia, the love they had for each other never wavered.

Peppino was the best husband, father, Nonno, and biggest Napoli soccer fan there ever was.

Peppino is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Concetta “Tina” (Orlando) Pellecchia and his daughter Nancy A. Weiss and her partner Daniel Keefe. He was the cherished grandfather of Alexandra Weiss and her fiancé DJ Barrile and Matthew Weiss and the loving father-in-law of Jay Weiss. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and extended family.

The funeral will be held at the A. J. Spadafora Funeral Home, 865 Main Street, Malden on Tuesday, March 3rd at 9:00am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 758 Salem St., Lynnfield at 10:00am. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 5-7pm. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Peppino’s memory may be made to Saint Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
