Mr. Marion Hayward Reese, Sr., age 91, (also known as Peanut by his friends) went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 26, 2020 after a brief illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 29, 2020, in the Chapel of Platt’s Funeral Home, 721 Crawford Avenue, Augusta with Reverend John Kilpatrick presiding. Burial will follow at West View Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
He was the beloved husband of the late Betty Godbee Reese for 62 years, at the time of her death in 2011. He served in the U. S. Navy, in World War II on the USS Randolph. He also served in the U. S. Naval Reserves. He was an Optician and retired from Wren Optical Company in 1993 as General Manager. He was a 32nd degree Mason. He loved playing and watching baseball and golf. He was proudly a Christian and a member of Pine View Baptist Church.
He was a loving father/daddy/dad/pop to his six surviving children: Karen Reese Jones (K. C.), Marty Reese (Noreen) and Kathy Price of Augusta, Becky Spades (Sam) of Black Rock, AR, Mark Reese of Martinez and Keith Reese (Beverly) of Louisville, KY. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Pine View Baptist Church, Debt Reduction Fund, 119 Pleasant Home Road, Augusta, GA 30907.
The family would like to express a special thank you to those at The Place at Martinez for the compassionate care given Dad, in his short stay.
He will be greatly missed but has won the battle. We give praise to God.
