Randall Allen “Randy” Greer, 67, of Norman Park passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 25, after a brave battle with brain cancer. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, February 28, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Pastor Carl Metzger officiating. His body will be laid to rest at Lenox Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 27, 2020, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Greer’s nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Born April 2, 1952 in Tifton, Randy was the son of the late Allen Hudson Greer and Evelyn Chipman Greer. He graduated Tift County High School, where he played both baseball and football. He remained a faithful Blue Devil fan to the end.
Randy is survived by his wife of 45 years, Vickie Lynn Greer of Norman Park; one son and daughter-in-law, Al and Michelle Greer of Sycamore and one very precious granddaughter, Shelby Madison Greer, also of Sycamore. He is also survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Ronnie and Linda Greer; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Debbie and Sonny Williams and Teri and Mark Mathis; his mother-in-law, Frances Elizabeth Wisham; and four brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law, Don Mitchell, Jon and Cathy Wisham, Mike and Diane Wisham and Richard and Sandra Ellis. Also, several special cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews that he loved very much, along with a host of friends.
Also, his “dirt road children”, Brian and Lindsay Glass, Casey and Georgia Millison, Dolly and Wayne Payne, Brian and Sarah Adams, Lori Shirling, Ivey Baker, Michael and Amy Moore, Abigail Moore, Carly Moore, John Mitchell, Bill Mitchell and Bobby Mitchell.
Randy worked in the aluminum extrusion die business for over forty years. He never met a stranger and touched many lives and had friends throughout the United States and Mexico. He was employed with Mid-South Central Extrusion Die Company in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. He was retired from the Georgia Air National Guard after spending 21 years with the 224th Joint Communications Support Squadron in Brunswick, Georgia, which provided deployable tactical communications for Joint and Special Operations Task Force Headquarters. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a gifted carpenter, who loved building special pieces for family and friends. He will be remembered for his generosity, his love for his family and friends and his hugs.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to their Lenox Baptist Church family, employees and friends at Mid-South Central Extrusion Die Company, all the girls at Homestead Hospice and the entire community for their prayers, love and support during the journey.
