Obituary

CHICOPEE – Rosemary M. (Hanson) Morin, 89, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Monday, February 24, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield with her loving husband, Bob at her side. She was born in Union City, New Jersey on November 14, 1930, a beloved daughter of the late Sumner and Mary (McQuaid) Hanson. She was raised in Rutherford, New Jersey, graduated from high school and later attended business school. She was later employed as a secretary at the United States Embassy in Tokyo, Japan where she met her future husband, Robert J. Morin who was serving in the United States Marine Corps. They were married on July 13, 1963 by a Catholic Priest at the United States Marine Corps Chapel at Camp Pendleton, California and were blessed with over 56 years of happiness together. In 1998, Bob and Rosemary moved to the Fairview section of Chicopee where they made their home. During her leisure time, she enjoyed sewing and reading. Active in her Catholic faith, Rosemary was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. Besides her beloved husband, she leaves her two loving children, William R. “Bill” Morin and his wife, Mi-Kyong, of Omaha, NE and Elizabeth M. Fennel and her husband, Scott, of Pacific Palisades, CA; her two cherished grandchildren, Rebecca M. Morin and Edward R. Morin; her two dear sisters, Helen Raymus of Pennsylvania and Jane Pietrowitz of Florida; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and extended family members. Besides her parents, she was also predeceased by her two dear brothers-in-law, Don Raymus and Tom Pietrowitz. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her Committal Service will follow the Mass at 1 p.m. in the Chapel at the Massachusetts Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA 01001.
