CHICOPEE ~ Shirley F. (Brown) Roy, 95, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Saturday, February 22, 2020. She passed into Eternal Life at Vero Health and Rehab of South Hadley surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family, friends and wonderful caregivers. She was born in Holyoke on June 27, 1924, the beloved daughter of the late Henry A. and Eva (Lemire) Brown. She was raised and educated in Holyoke and had moved to the Willimansett section of Chicopee in 1972. She later moved to Fairview in 1985 where she lived the remainder of her life. She was employed for 18 years at the former Pratt & Austin Company in Holyoke. She was a communicant of Saint Anne Church in Chicopee. During her leisure time, she loved cooking and actually enjoyed shoveling snow. Above all, she loved spending time with her family and many friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Leon F. Roy who was Called Home on June 5, 2007. They were married on June 30, 1951 at Sacred Heart Church in Holyoke and were blessed with over 55 years of happiness together. She leaves her three dear nieces, Susan Brucia and her husband, Richard, Therese Ricard and Peggy Roy, all of Chicopee; her good friends, Kenneth and Tammy Roy of Chicopee; and her many extended family members and friends. Her relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, March 6, 2020 at 11 a.m. at Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. Her burial will follow the Mass at Notre Dame Cemetery, 63 Lyman Street, South Hadley, MA 01075.
