Obituary

Salvatore R. DiMare, of Ipswich formerly of Medford, passed away on Monday, February 24, at Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers. He was 90 years old. Salvatore was born in Boston, and was the cherished son of the late Charles J. and Anne (Fazio) DiMare.

Sal was raised and educated in Medford. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was later educated at the Wentworth Institute in Boston, before starting his refrigeration company, Highland Engineering in Melrose. Sal eventually moved to Ipswich 14 years ago. Before opening his refrigeration company, Sal worked as a lobsterman out of Boston Harbor for many years.

Sal was the beloved partner of Shirley (Palermo) DiMare, and the loving dad of Charles, Ann, Domenic, Philip, Salvatore, Anthony, Lori and Julie. He was the loving grandfather of 17 and great grandfather of 23. Sal was the dear brother of James (Margie) DiMare, Charles (Bella) DiMare and the late Domenic “Joe” (Mary) DiMare. In December 2019, he lost his two close friends, Paul and Mike.

Visiting hours will be held in the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, on Friday, February 28, from 9:30-11:30AM, followed by a Funeral Service in the funeral home beginning at 11:30AM. Relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
