Obituary

Louis A. Cambio, 100, of Calef Street, Johnston, R.I. died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at his home. He was the son of the late John and Maria (Sanquliano) Cambio.

Born in Johnston, he was a lifelong resident. He served in the Army during WWII. Following the War, he worked at the Coro Company in Providence and later at Charles Manufacturing before his retirement. Everyone knew and loved him as "Uncle Louie," even to friends of the family.

"Uncle Louie" was a sharp dresser and enjoyed the company of his family and many friends. He was a great storyteller, and he frequently captivated us with stories of his childhood, including family members long since passed, and stories of his service. He even entertained his favorite dog, "Buffy," in a similar fashion.

Uncle Louie is survived by his niece, Dolores A. Martinelli, of Johnston, R.I. as well as many nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, as well as extended family members and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial to which relatives and friends are invited will be held Monday at 11:00 am in St. Rocco’s Church, 927 Atwood Avenue, Johnston, R.I.. Burial will be in Highland Park, Johnston. Visitation will be Monday 9:00 am - 10:30am in the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, R.I.. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Beacon Hospice, 1 Catamore Boulevard, East Providence, R.I. 02914
