Obituary

William B. Fermino, Sr., 70, of New Bedford died Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Henry and Adeline (Gomes) Fermino, he had lived in Arizona for the past thirty years before recently moving back to New Bedford.

Billy was formerly employed as a customer service representative for AT&T and Wells Fargo. He was also a long-time football and basketball referee in both Arizona and Massachusetts.

He was a member of the NAACP.

Billy enjoyed riding his bike, working with children as a referee and spending time with his family.

Survivors include four children, William B. Fermino, Jr., Ryan S. Fermino, Veda M. Fermino, and Ashton Fermino; five grandchildren, Kelcie, Marissa, Ryan, Dezmin, and Elielis Fermino; his sister, Bonita DeGrasse; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Joan Almeida, Anthony "Butch" Fermino, Henry Fermino, Jr., Robert Fermino, and Barbara DePina.

His memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 6, 2020 from 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford. Burial will be private. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
