Obituary

Michael J. Chase, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly from a brain aneurysm at Massachusetts Genereal Hospital in Boston on Wednesday, February 19, 2020 surrounded by his loving family and close friends. He was 42 years of age.

Michael was born in Boston on December 1, 1977, a son of Robert W. Chase and Catherine M. (McDevitt) Chase. He grew up in Charlestown where he was educated at St. Catherine's Parochial School and graduated from Pope John XXIII High School in Everett in 1995. He furthered his education and received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Suffolk University in 2012. Michael worked as a laborer for a local construction company.

Michael is the beloved son of Robert W. Chase and Catherine M. (McDevitt) Chase. He is the devoted brother of Robert W. Chase Jr. and Kelly Chase. He is the loving uncle to Catherine Cox. He is the beloved grandson of the late Francis Chase, Rose (Ragucci) Chase, John McDevitt and Anna (Goggin) McDevitt. He is the loving Godson and nephew of Marie McDevitt. He is also survived by his many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Michael's visiting hours on Tuesday morning, February 25, 2020 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. followed by his Prayer Service at 11 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. His burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.

Michael's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Massachusetts General Hospital for their expert and compassionate care of Michael and his family during this difficult time and to the many loving friends who were able to be with Michael and his family in his final moments.
