Obituary

WORCESTER____Arthur J. Labbee, 89, of 1 Ralph Ave, died Saturday February 4 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center.

He leaves his beloved wife of 64 years, Aurore M. (Brodeur) Labbee, a sister, Emma Cariglia of Worcester; nieces and nephews, Susan Handy of Connecticut, Donald Brodeur of Fair Oaks, CA, Paul Brodeur of Issaquah, WA, and Suzanne T. Laperle of Grafton. He was predeceased by a sister, Clara Forget. He was born in Worcester, the son of Ludger and Bernadette (Cloutier) Labbee and has lived here all his life.

Mr. Labbee owned and operated Labbee Painting Contractors for 40 years. He retired in 1981. He was a veteran of World War II and served as a chief petty officer in the U.S. Coast Guard. He graduated from St. Joseph’s Grammar School and Worcester Boy’s Trade High School.

Mr. Labbee was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church and was a past president of the Worcester Society of Painting Contractors. He was a life member and past president of The Harmony Club of Worcester, was a life member of Grafton Hill Post 323 American Legion and was a member for more than 50 years of the Association St. Jean Baptiste.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday February 8 from DIRSA-MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton St., with a Mass at 11:00 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton St. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 am Wednesday morning in the funeral home.
