FALL RIVER - Jose M. Carvalho, age 86, residence 5 Morton St., Fall River, died Sunday at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Beatriz (Medeiros) Carvalho. Besides his wife of Fall River, he is survived by: Two Sons: Jose A. Carvalho and Antonio Carvalho both of Fall River, MA. One Daughter: Maria Da Graca Furtado of Dartmouth, MA. One Sister: Maria Do Anjos Carvalho of Canada, Eight Grandchildren, Six Great Grandchildren, and Several nieces and nephews. He was also brother of the late Antonio, Joao, Guilherme, and Alfred Carvalho and Lurdes Sousa.
Born in Santo Antonio alem Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, the son of the late Antonio Carvalho and the late Adelaide (Martins) Carvalho. He was a Fall River resident since 1971. Before retiring 28 years ago, he was a Machine Operator at American Luggage Co. He was a member of the Afonso Costa Republican Club and a member of St. Michael Holy Name Society. He played guitar at different churches and Holy Ghost Feasts. He was a member of St. Michael Church.
His funeral will take place from the Manuel Rogers & Sons Funeral Home, 1521 No. Main St., on Thursday at 9:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Chrisitan Burial in St. Michael Church, Essex St. at 10:00 A.M. Internment in St. Patrick Cemetery. Calling hours Wednesday 5-9 P.M.
