Obituary

Paul F. McIntire passed away surrounded by his three sisters at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on February 10" He was 70 years old and had struggled with multiple heart, vascular and kidney issues over many years, but no one could have worked harder to maintain their health. He was determined to live the best life he could regardless of his illnesses.

Paul was born in Woburn, Massachusetts and was the loving son of the late Carroll E. and Mary E (Doherty) McIntire. He was a graduate of Woburn High School and Suffolk University. After graduating from college, he worked in the advertising field at the Jordan Marsh store in Boston and subsequently became the Divisional Advertising Manager. After Jordan Marsh, he embarked on a successful second career as an artist, hand-decoupaging furniture, which sold through several Boston area galleries. He created some beautiful pieces, and this was his heart's work. Several of his art pieces were also given to family members and will be forever treasured.

Paul was a loving brother to his three sisters and would enjoy getting together with them and reminiscing about all his family and their adventures. He was also very appreciative of their love and support during his ongoing health issues. He will be especially remembered for his special sense of humor and was the favorite "funny" uncle to Chris, Nancy, Michael, Julie, Marybeth and Danielle. They all had such vivid memories to tell when he would babysit and scare them to death with his outrageous stories, and he would be gleeful when they couldn't sleep at night checking under their beds. During the last decade, he exercised almost daily at the Melrose YMCA and loved to walk around the town of Melrose which he considered his home. During his many walks he would meet many people who loved his kind heart and wit. He was also an avid reader, especially historical novels and biographies, he also enjoyed old films and loved classical music. All these things brought much joy and contentment to his life.

Paul was the beloved brother of Diane Potter and her husband Robert, Carol Hurteau and her husband William, and Susan Aucoin and her husband Michael, all from Burlington, Massachusetts, and brother of the late Peter McIntire. He was the uncle to Christopher Potter, Michael Abenante, Julie Rockwell, Marybeth Pendergast, and the late Nancy Potter-Geswell and Danielle Aucoin, along with several great nephews and nieces. He also leaves a long-time friend, Michael Gleason from Miami Shores, Florida.

Per Paul's wishes, funeral arrangements will be private. Memorials in Paul's name can be made to the Melrose YMCA, 497 Main Street, Melrose MA 02176 or www.ymcametronorth.org. Arrangements are made through Mclaughlin-Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, Woburn, MA.
