Obituary


Dr. Edward Turner Donohoe, Junior, 81, of Woburn, Massachusetts, passed away after a long illness on February 14th, 2020, surrounded by family.

Edward was born an identical twin on December 31st, 1938, in Lowell, MA., to his late parents, Edward T. and Mary A. (Sheeran) Donohoe. He is survived by his wife, Anne M. (Sullivan) of Duxbury, MA. and his four children: Michael P. and his wife Kimberly, of Wilmette, Illinois, Mark D. and his wife, Paige, of Manchester-by-the-Sea, MA., Matthew B. and his wife, Suzanne, of New York, NY., and Mary T. (Schabort) and her husband, P.J., of Duxbury, MA. He is also survived by his twin brother, Dr. David F. and his wife, Patricia, of Lynnfield, MA. His late sister, Edwina M. (Rapp), passed away in 2005 but is survived by her husband, David Rapp of DeWitt, NY. Along with numerous nieces and nephews, he also leaves behind his thirteen grandchildren: Liam, Maggie, Kate, Luke, Mae, Anya, Cia, Annie, Lola, James, Emmet, Dutch and Clara.

Edward was educated in the Woburn Public School system and he graduated from Woburn High School in 1956. He went on to graduate from Boston College in 1960 with a degree in business. He proudly served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corps and USMC Reserves. He retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Following active duty, Ed pursued a career in dentistry through Georgetown University (1967-1971 General Dentistry, Orthodontics 1973-1975). After specializing in Orthodontics, Edward established his practice in Woburn in 1975. Years later, following in his father’s footsteps, his inquisitive mind and love of learning led him to Massachusetts School of Law where he obtained his law degree in 1992. Edward’s insatiable desire to learn about a variety of topics including world religions, scriptures, world events, geography and many other subjects was lifelong. Dr. Donohoe gave back to his community in many ways, including coaching, sponsoring and donating to many causes.

The funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, February 22nd, in St. Margaret Church, 109 Winn St., Burlington, at 10 a.m. Reception to follow Mass on Saturday at The Café Escadrille, 26 Cambridge St., Burlington, at 11:30 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held at the McLaughlin - Dello Russo Family Funeral Home, 60 Pleasant St., Woburn, Friday, February 21st, from 4 to 8 p.m. Interment services at St. Patrick Cemetery in Lowell, will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the Donohoe family requests that donations be made in Edward’s name to support the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd, Waltham, MA 02452.
