PORTLAND- Earl Eugene Hood born Machias, ME grew up in Portland and went to Portland High School. Retired Veteran of the US Army passed away from a terminal illness at age of 71.This accomplished man I am proud to call my dad and opa to his granddaughter, Trinity and widow to my mother Ursula. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, humor . He never had an easy life growing up but you would never know it. He had a very down to earth personality, very giving, layed back and very likable. A very kind and generous human being to anyone.
He was life of the party to many, when having a few drinks he enjoyed telling stories of his world experiences or where he traveled and whom he met through work and his activities like bowling and tennis which he was very good at. Those activities were some of my favorite memories as he taught me these at an early age and we enjoyed as a family.
There were many more amazing memories and fun times, I will always cherish.
Before his last moment his bright blue eyes lit up the room and smirky smile made everyone in the room around him feel he was at peace. His very loved and missed. Give mom a hug for me and I am happy you both are back together again without illness and in peace.
