Elizabeth B. “Betty” Smith 84, of Franklin, died peacefully with her family at her side, on Saturday February 15, 2020 at Milford Regional Medical Center following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late William J. Smith, who died in 1979.
Born February 28, 1935 in Queens, New York, she was a former longtime resident of West Islip, New York, before moving to Franklin to be near family in 2009. She was raised and educated in Queens and was a graduate of Grover Cleveland High School.
Betty worked as an administrative assistant for South Side Hospital in Bay Shore, New York before her retirement in 2000.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, shopping, traveling and cooking.
She is survived by her two sons, Kieran W. Smith and his wife Lesley of Cumberland, RI and James M. Smith of Pennsylvania. She was the mother of the late Steven J. Smith, and sister of the late Barbara Lynch. She also leaves 6 cherished grandchildren, Joshua Lawrence, Brianna Correia, Kelsey Correia, Grayce Fallon, Kiera Smith, and Landon Smith, and 1 great grandchild, Jordan Lawrence, and many loving extended family members.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Memorial Mass Sunday May 10th, in St. Mary’s Church, Franklin at 10:30AM. Her interment will take place at Long Island National Cemetery, New York at a later date.
