Obituary

Sally M. (Sullivan) Woods, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Friday, February 14, 2020 at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. She was 80 years of age.

Sally was born in Boston on March 2, 1939, a daughter of the late Daniel J. Sullivan and Rose (Kelly) Sullivan. She grew in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Francis De Sales Parochial School and graduated from Cardinal Cushing High School in South Boston in 1956. Sally was a homemaker most of her adult life who dedicated herself to her husband and 5 children. She enjoyed shopping and most importantly in her life was keeping the family together with their regular Sunday dinners. She took great pride in each one of her grandchildren and the individual accomplishment they have each achieved in their lives and always looked forward to spending time with her 4 beautiful great-grandchildren. Sally is a member of The Daughters of Isabella # 1 and The Old Charlestown Schoolgirls Association. Sally was very proud of her Irish roots and Charlestown heritage and at any given occasion without warning, Sally could be heard singing the infamous "We Are The Charlestown Girls ".

Sally is the beloved wife of 60 years to retired Boston Firefighter Richard E. "Pookie" Woods . She is the devoted mother of Kelly Considine and her husband Danny, Kevin Woods and his wife Pattyann, Boston Fire Department Captain Patrick Woods (Engine Co. 39) and his wife Erin and the late Richard E. Woods and Daniel E. "Danny" Woods. She is the loving Ma to Boston Fire Department Lieutenant Danny Considine, Colleen Considine, Shannon Considine, Kevin Woods, Brian Woods, Elle Woods, Patrick Woods, Connor Woods and Big Ma to her great-grandchildren Sean, Kallie, Ava and Danny. She is the beloved sister of Marilyn Brassil, Rosemary Campbell and the late Jeremiah Sullivan and Donald Sullivan. She is also survived by her many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sally's Funeral on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 at 9 A.M. from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Francis De Sales Church, 313 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown at 10 A.M. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Her visiting hours will be on Monday, February 17, 2020 from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home.
