Eleanor J. (Doherty) Lane, a lifelong resident of Charlestown, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, February 12, 2020 at her home . She was 92 years of age.
Eleanor was born in Boston on August 1, 1927, a daughter of the late Michael H. Doherty and Isabella (Crane) Doherty. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated throughout the Boston Public School system. Eleanor worked for several years as an assembler at Schraffts Candy Company in Charlestown. She enjoyed listening to music and traveling to Foxwoods, but she found her most enjoyment in life was to spend quality time with her beloved husband Bill of 53 years and her 4 children. Eleanor was very proud of her grandchildren and their families and treasured all the special moments shared with each one of them.
Eleanor is the beloved wife of 53 years to the late William A. Lane. She is the devoted mother of Marsha Whalen and her husband Jim, Bill Lane and his wife Maureen, Bob Lane and his wife Patti and June Lewey and her husband Bill. She is the loving Nana to Kellie, Kim, Erin, William, Tara, Nicole, Michael, Christina, Bill and the late Jeffrey and also her 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson. She is the beloved sister of the late Rita Boriello, Anna Bowden, Louise Heatley, Margaret Titcomb and Michael Doherty. She is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend Eleanor's visiting hours on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2020 from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M. followed by her Funeral Service at 11 A.M. in The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown. Her burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden.
