Obituary

GRANBY ~ Rebecca (Jordan) Mathews, of Granby and a longtime resident of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. She was born in Springfield on March 31, 1925, a beloved daughter of the late Costas G. and Anastasia (Mastroyin) Jordanides. She was a communicant of Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield and a member of the Ladies Philoptochos. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Anastasios M. “Toss” Mathews who was Called Home on August 10, 2003. She leaves her loving son, Costas A. “Gus” Mathews of Granby; her loving daughter, Katherine A. Mathews, MD of Boise, ID; and her dear sister, Georgia Williams of Springfield. Rebecca will Lie in Repose on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. followed by a 10 a.m. Funeral Service at Saint George Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2320 Main Street, Springfield, MA 01107. Her Burial will follow the Service at Oak Grove Cemetery, 426 Bay Street, Springfield, MA 01109. St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107 has been entrusted with her arrangements.
