Obituary

CHICOPEE – David A. Walker, 68, of the Fairview section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on his birthday, Tuesday, February 11, 2020. He passed into Eternal Life at his home surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on February 11, 1952, a beloved son of the late Howard F. and Ethel D. (McCray) Walker. He was raised in Chicopee, graduated from Chicopee Comprehensive High School and lived in Fairview for most of his life. He was employed as a mechanic for Phoenix Management, Inc. in Chicopee. During his leisure time, he enjoyed bowling and playing horseshoes and darts. David was a “jack of all trades” and was often seen puttering around his home working on various projects. He was an avid pet lover and will sadly be missed by his faithful canine companion, his dog, Sheena. He leaves his beloved wife and soul mate, Jean E. (Fortier) Walker. They were married on January 17, 1970 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Granby and were blessed with just over 50 years of happiness together. Besides his wife, he leaves his loving children, David A. Walker and his wife, Olga, Kimberly A. Perry and her husband, Alan, April A. Walker and Rachel A. Walker; his seven cherished grandchildren, David III, Melissa, Alan, Stephanie, Alexis, Michael and Michelle; his cherished great-grandson, Spencer; his dear brothers-in-law, William J. Ayers, Jr., William F. Fortier and his wife, Marie, Robert L. Fortier and John J. Fortier; his dear sister-in-law, Judith Fortier; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, numerous friends and extended members of the family. Besides his parents, he was also predeceased by his dear sister, Betty Ann (Walker) Ayers who was Called Home on October 28, 2011. His Funeral will be held on Wednesday morning, February 19, 2020 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Fairview Chapels, (413-533-3307), 506 Britton Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 (funeral home will open at 9:30 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Saint Anne Church, 30 College Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private. His family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, February 18, 2020 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The parking lot is located in the rear of the funeral home.
