Obituary


Walter R. “Wally” Tangstrom age 73 of Brockton died January 25, 2020 at Season’s Hospice in Milton after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was the loving husband of Cynthia A. (Johnson) Tangstrom. Wally was born in Boston and raised in Brockton a son of the late Albert and Vivian (Barter) Tangstrom. A 1964 graduate of Brockton High School, he lived in Brockton for most of his life.

Wally had served in the US Army during the Vietnam era and was stationed in Germany. He had been a driver for Capital Leasing in Brockton for over twenty five years.

In his free time Wally enjoyed long distance shopping, going out to eat and playing golf with his brothers. He will be remembered as an outgoing and funny guy who was also generous, helpful and loving. He especially enjoyed time with his wife and family.

Wally was the father of Christine Tangstrom and Heather McDonough and her husband Matthew all of Brockton and grandfather of Zachary Hunter McDonough and Rebecca Lynn McDonough. He was also the brother of Albert Tangstrom, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Abington, Donna McPherson and her husband Ed of Middleboro, Stephen Tangstrom of Hull and Catherine Tangstrom and her wife Sandra of Virginia. He also leaves many nieces and nephews.

Visiting hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home 138 Belmont St. (rte. 123) Brockton on Wednesday 4-7pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Thursday at 10am followed by burial in Melrose Cemetery.
