Edmund D. “Teddy” Clifford of Wakefield, MA, formerly of Burlington, MA, and longtime resident of Charlestown, MA, died suddenly on Thursday, February 2, 2006, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. He was 65 years of age.
Ted was born in Somerville, MA, on August 26, 1940, and grew up in Charlestown, MA, where he attended Boston Public Schools. He began working for Boston Sand and Gravel Company in Charlestown in 1963 and has been a dedicated truck driver for the Company for the last 42 years. Presently, Ted holds the position as the Number One Employee of the Company. He is also the former Shop Steward for Boston Sand and Gravel Company. He has been a long standing member for the last 42 years of Teamsters Union Local No. 379. Ted is proud of his Irish Heritage and that he comes from Charlestown, MA.
Ted is the beloved husband of 42 years to Frances C. (McClearn) Clifford. HE is the devoted father of Theresa Clifford of Wakefield, MA, Barbara-Jean Clifford of Burlington, MA, and Colleen Clifford of Wakefield, MA. Ted is the loving grandfather of Edmund Clifford of Burlington, MA. He is the beloved brother of Barbara Clifford-LaPorta of Medford, MA, Attorney Charles A. Clifford and his wife Veronica of Burlington, MA, and the late Sr. Carol “Maureen” Clifford. Ted is the cousin of Joseph Folkard of Medford, MA, and Mary Folkard of California. Several nieces and nephews survive him.
Ted’s Funeral will be held on Tuesday morning, February, 7, 2006, from the Frank H. Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill Street, Charlestown, MA, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a his Funeral Mass in St. Mary’s Church, 55 Warren Street, Charlesstown, MA, at 10:00 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting Hours for Ted will be held on Monday, February 6, 2006, from 3 – 8 p.m. Burial will take place on Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Pine Street, Centerville, MA.
