Maria G. (Sorbara) Forte of Malden died on Wednesday, January 22. Born and raised in Reggio Calabria, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Maria C. (Schiripa) Sorbara. Maria moved to the U.S. in 1979, settling first in Somerville before moving to Malden 20 years ago. She was a great cook, loved to knit, and generously volunteered her time at Massachusetts General Hospital. Maria was very sociable, and "knew everything and everyone!"
Maria was the beloved wife of the late Giuseppi Forte, and the devoted mother of Gaetano Forte of the Domincan Republic, Giovanni Carlo Forte and his wife Susana of Somerville, Maria Stella McCallum and Claudio Leonardo Forte, both of Malden. She was the cherished mother-in-law of Antoinette Forte, and the dear sister of Carmela Ursino of Argentina. Maria is also survived by 13 loving grandchildren and 24 loving great grandchildren.
Funeral from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford on Monday, January 27 at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 770 Salem St., Malden, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday, January 26, from 4 through 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
